We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the education sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Caretaker working for a school in Tunbridge Wells.

27 Days Holiday plus Bank Holidays, 37 hours per week

Caretaker’s Core Duties

  • To aid the Head Caretaker/Facilities Manager in managing the Health and Safety procedures
  • To assist the Head Caretaker/Facilities Manager in keeping and developing the School premises
  • You may need to assist the Site Team at both sites and there needs to be a degree of flexibility on hours, as and when it is required.
  • Provide safeguarding and uphold the welfare of children and young people in line with child protection procedures.
  • Keep clean and tidy, when necessary, the paths, drives and other hard surfaces within the site grounds. Empty rubbish bins located around the site.
  • Undertake repairs and maintenance, when necessary, around the site
  • Carry out weekly maintenance of the 3G pitch.

Caretaker’s Skills Required

  • Knowledge and experience in a similar role, preferably in a school environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Experience in DIY and general building maintenance
  • Computer literate
  • To know how to prioritise the needs and safety of the children and staff
  • A full driver’s license is desirable

Caretaker’s Key Experience

  • Experience in DIY and general building maintenance
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the day-to-day management of a public building, e.g. heating, lighting and maintenance
  • Experience of working on building and maintenance projects
  • Experience of dealing with secondary school students

The post holder will be required to work weekly shift patterns (with a 30-minute lunch in between):

  • 06:00 - 14:00
  • 07:30 - 15:30
  • 11:30 - 19:30
